Honeywell were the pioneers of the Smart Controls. The first system they released was in 1996 so the present model is state of the art. It works a lot better than most wireless thermostats which will only control the whole system but the Evohome will zone out each Room individually, each sensor zoning off each room. The sensors are all controlled by an interface main control unit. The hot water cylinder can also be controlled wit a separate wireless thermostat. This is a fantastic setup and if you are staying put you will get the installation cost back in no time. This system is very appealing to most people as it can be controled by your phone so you always know if your home is warm and comfy.
The Central Clare Plumbing Company can install standard Thermostatic valves to accommodate the Evohome sensors if you don’t have any. This also reduces upheaval and pipe alterations and will allow your heating and hot water system to work independently. So it won’t turn your heating on at all on those early sunny spring days, but you won’t be caught short when that cold front comes in. The price for this kind of control system is not cheap . The entry level kit starts at about €800.00 for 4 zones ,interface and hot water thermostat. You also have to factor in the cost of fitting standard thermostatic radiator valves if you don’t have any which come in at €50.00 per radiator. If the system is dirty it would have to be Power Flushed as the valves are sensitive and would not operate effectively if there is sludge in the pipework and radiator. This all has to be taken into account when you budget for an installation. If you are not planning to move for a few years you will get your money back in a few years in what you save on energy bills. It’s simple maths . If your bill is €1000.00 per year. 40% saving on energy as Honeywell maintains is €400.00 a year .
